About the map
Verrückt (“Crazy”) was the first Zombies map sold after the game shipped: it came with Call of Duty: World at War’s first map pack in June 2009 and moved the fight from a bunker to the Wittenau Sanatorium, an asylum on the edge of Berlin. It is the map that invented most of what Zombies players take for granted. Perk-a-Cola machines (Juggernog, Quick Revive, Speed Cola and Double Tap) first appeared here, along with the power switch that turns them on, electric traps in the corridors and a Mystery Box that packs up and moves when a teddy bear comes out.
The asylum also split the squad. In the original, players start on two sides of the building and have to buy their way through to the power room before they can meet, which makes the early rounds a race. Wall buys cover the World at War arsenal, from the Kar98k and the Gewehr 43 to the MP40, STG-44, Thompson, BAR and shotguns, with Bouncing Betties for anyone who wants to mine a doorway.
How it plays here
Pick Verrückt on the Solo or Co-op screen, or open it straight from the Play button above. Power, perks, traps, Betties and the moving box all work like the original, and the round rules follow World at War. It is an unranked public beta: a handful of textures and models are still missing and it runs heavier than Nacht, so expect a longer first load and choose the Low graphics tier on an integrated GPU. Scores from this map do not post to the ranked boards yet.
Co-op is the same as on Nacht: Quick Play, host a squad or join with an invite link, up to four players with built-in voice chat. The Classic and Enhanced presets both work here; Enhanced adds hitmarkers, characters and world pings on top of the map’s own perks. There is nothing to install, and it runs on Chromebooks, Windows, Mac and Linux in Chrome, Edge or Firefox with WebGL 2. Phones and tablets get a handoff page: the game needs a keyboard and mouse or a controller.

Questions
Why is Verrückt a beta?
Some textures and models from the original have not been rebuilt yet, so a few surfaces look plain and the map is unranked until it matches the original closely enough. Everything that affects the rules already does: power, perks, traps, the box and the rounds.
Does the power switch matter?
Yes. Perk machines, the electric traps and the doors behind them need power, exactly as in the original. Find the switch before you spend everything on perks you cannot drink.
Can I play with friends?
Yes, up to four players in one squad with voice chat. Host a game and share the invite link; it works from any computer or Chromebook.
Is this the official game?
No. It is a fan-made remake. Call of Duty, World at War and Verrückt belong to Activision and Treyarch; this project is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
